We are the Illini Bird Fanciers, Inc. Welcome to our club web site!
Our motto is "Fellowship and education through the world of aviculture. Fly with the knowledge."
We are a Springfield, Illinois based non-profit educational organization formed for fellowship and education of our members who raise, keep and/or foster caged birds. We educate the public about caged birds and issues concerning their well being.
We support avian conservation, research, and legislative issues, and we contribute financial support to like-minded associations. We are affiliated with the American Federation of Aviculture, Inc., the American Cockatiel Society, the National Finch and Softbill Society, and the World Parrot Trust.
We are a diverse group of people with a wide variety of birds who share a common interest in learning and caring about our avian friends. We have members who are breeders, as well as members with the single pet bird. The birds our members keep range in size from Macaws and Cockatoos to Finches and Parrotlets.
We hold regular monthly meetings in Springfield and convene in other central Illinois locations for field trips and other fun activities. Our membership is open to anyone with an interest in aviculture and the keeping and breeding of pet birds. Avian enthusiasts of all levels of experience are welcome, and we particularly encourage beginners and bird keepers with questions or avian related problems to attend our meetings and join us.
We also sponsor and conduct two major annual bird fairs in Springfield, the IBF Spring Bird Fair and the IBF Fall Bird Fair. We've expanded our bird fairs, which are now held in the Illinois building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Our bird fairs feature a wide variety of pet birds for sale by professional and hobbyist breeders as well as specialty vendors offering extensive selections of cages, bird foods and feeders, breeding nests and boxes, bird toys and related bird keeping accessories.
